Monaco GP tickets

We will be visiting monaco on the 21st / 22nd may.

This is a few days before the race weekend, and from what I understand, they have a free practice session on the thursday.

While we are there, it would seem silly not to attend this and see the cars going round the track.

Ive seen tickets being sold on agencies websites for the thursday practice, but have left it a bit late to order them before we go away.

Can we actually buy the tickets on the gate when we get there? or would we HAVE to order them in advance for the free practice?

Yes, you can buy tickets at the various kiosks around the city centre. I've not had a problem getting tickets for Thursday but some of the more popular grandstands may sell out. What you can do is order your tickets from the official Automobile Club de Monaco and pick them up from their office in Monaco.

Just ask around in a few bars when you get there, I'm sure someone will be able to point you in the right direction. Thursday must be pretty quiet there I'd have thought as even Friday practice at most circuits is pretty empty.
