"Exotic" dancer wages..?
Discussion
Hi all,
I've got a little bit of an idea for a small business that I'm kicking around in my head.
How do table / exotic dancers get paid..? I'm aware they get tips from the audience around where they dance, but are they on a standard wage..? The business would be based in SE Kent, so wages wouldn't be London rate. What would roughly be the going rate if i wanted say 3 girls to work midday - 9pm.
Finally, does anyone know the situation with local councils for this sort of thing, if bikinis / t-shirts are worn and there's no nudity or contact involved...?
Cheers,
Nige.

Is 9pm not a bit too early?
I know pissed people are a nuisance, but surely they are are your main target?
Depends on the location I suppose. If its around other pubs/clubs, you'll probably make alot more after 9pm
I'd pay 'em minimum wage, as its a job where most of your money comes from tips.
If they are confident, they won't mind working for it.

I was thinking if there were pubs and clubs in the area it would be worth opening a bit later. Once the ugly ones realise they aren't gunna "pull", they will work their way down to your place and spend a few quid on summat they'll never be able to have.
Also, drunk people tend to be a bit careless with money!

not that I know anything about this but..
Down here it's a flat £50 per girl per night (regardless of what they earn / don't) and they keep all the rest..
The club makes no real money on the girls per se, they just make an absolute killing from the drinks..
15 girls = £750 a night
say 30 blokes a night, half paying on door, half comped = £250ish a night
So the club is making £1k a night just opening it's doors..
Say average bloke spends £150 on drinks (averaged out over the tight wads and the champagne / shot charlies!)
£4500 on drinks.. say £4000 profit on that..
£5k a night for a small club..
£1.25m a yr.. not toooo bad
Multiply this many fold for the chains who REALLY hit you with the hard sales pitch or attract in the expense account henrys!

I have a client who owns and runs one of the most established exotic dancers club in Cardiff. He has a fixed fee from his girls (average 6 of them week nights, up to 15 on weekends) and then the girls keep about 75% of what they earn, and all private dances are booked through the floor manager. Obviously extra tips the girls keep, but the killing is made on the bar and the door. At £15 entry and the cheapest bottle of beer at £4 and the most expensive bottle of champers at £550, the overhead is covered even before opening. And the rule of no drinking/no sitting helps too......
Location is absolutely key. This establishment is based on the main drinkers fare in Cardiff, and the owner also owns the bar next door, so I would consider your geographics carefully. As for closing at 9pm, unless you're happy to take less than 25% your potential revenue, I would seriously think again.
Another area to consider is immigration and CRB checks, as I can guarantee that you will find yourself under the close watch of the local police, not only for alleged prostitution, but also drugs and the occasional accusation of aggravated assault when your door staff will have to eject the "overly zealous" client (it's going to happen, so face reality before it rears it's ugly head).
Hope some of this helps. Drop me an email from my profile if I can be of any more assistance.

There's a lap dancing club on St Mary Street?Blimey, Cardiff has changed. I remember the Buzz Bar causing a stir because the bar staff were in Swimsuits.

Seedy, filthy underbelly of modern britain...
Love it!
The owner of our local snooker club is trying to get a license for it to be a part time pole bancing bar (10-2 Fri & Sat, 12-11 Sun.)
Now our high street is quite frankly dying on its arse at the moment, but the local opposition to this is quite staggering.
To be fair its surrounded by flats, and has no parking of its own, but the ward councillor, the head of the high street regeneration team(which I didn't know existed until this came about), the police, the local residents even Morrisons (who's effing great shop backs onto the club, and who's car park would be the natural one to use) have all come out against this guys plans.
He has made the fatal mistake of opening with the "I'm a family man and I see no'arm in it guv'nor, its all a bit of fun innit" stance, which seems to have upset people even more.
I reckon that anything involving licences and even a little bit of nudity will be a major headache to get off the ground.
Sure if you are going to get the sort of figures Jamie was talking about above its worth it, but unless its a really good earner it may be more hassle than its worth.

Might as well just open a nightclub really. The price you pay for booze these days is really cheap. Charge 800 people a fiver to get in. They each spend £30 on drinks. Now our high street is quite frankly dying on its arse at the moment, but the local opposition to this is quite staggering.

That equates to a turnover of £28,000 a night! You're open for 5 Hours, let's say 9pm till 2am so you need 10(?) Bar staff so that's £350 on staff, and let's say a grand for a decent security firm on the door.
Rent, Licence, Rates, Insurance and stuff comes out, even if you only made 25% net profit that equals £7,000 Profit per Day!

Mmmm...
