Getting married on the 5th July (getting close now!)

Just starting to think about the music for the big day. We're getting married in a registery office and we've got the following slots to fill:

  • While guests are assembling (approx 15mins)
  • While register is signed (approx 6mins)
  • Recession (approx 5mins)
Later in the evening our first dance will be to My Wish - Rascal Flatts

So we've got a bit of time to fill and we need some suggestions! I quite fancy Lilly Was Here while the guests are assembling as i've always loved the sax on the track, however my better half isn't so sure!

So guys (and gals) what can you suggest. Happy to mix it up between traitional and new songs! The problem is that most of the songs we like talk about losing love!

While we're talking weddings does anyone have any nice readings we could potentially use?

Cheers,
Phill

Don't think my usual choice of music (Eagles, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel etc will be that suitable!)

I do feel for you, chap. I deliberated for a long, long time deciding which tunes to play at my wedding (it was all in vain - the stereo f!!cked up).

Anyway. My suggestions.

For "Assembling" (15 minutes is quite long for one piece of music, so here are 2 suggestions): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbcuteYm-EA , followed by

For "Procession", Pachelbel is good.

For "Register" try two Elgar numbers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqO7yuh8Wsg  and

For "Procession", I'd try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKejfYzB3ak

Hope this helps.

And congratulations!

Nice one we'll have a listen.

Yeah 15 mins is a long time so we were planning to have a number of songs (i think I should be able to choose these ones as Amy won't be there to hear themwink)

We were going to have Canon in D - Pachebel, but I said I'd be singing coolio as she walked down the isle... she wasnt a happy bunny biggrin. Still to find another song too, and were getting married on the 14th June!

ahhh, this brings back the 'few' nice memories I have of getting married.

anyway, we had Pachebel - Canon in D for the Bridal procession

for the signing of the register try - Air on a G String (Bach) (it's better known as the Hamlet advert music)

and we also had Mozart Concerto 21 biggrin

all our guests commented on what lovely choices of music we had chosen and what a nice change it made from the usual choices often made.

have a lovely day, it goes so quickly so get someone with a camcorder to film it for you (you also get to see things that you would have missed as well like guests and the bride arriving etc)

enjoy
