Hi Phil,

Yes the roof is removable. Just a few screws to take it off. You can get a soft top conversion which involves Lotus drilling a couple of holes to take the Elise soft top.

N/A v Supercharged - On track as far as I know there isnt a lot of difference. On the road is where you'll notice, the supercharged car is far more usable as the powers available much lower down the rev range. I test drove both and as soon as I jumped out the S I knew I had to have one.

If you free today or sunday give me a buzz happy to meet up, take you for a pax answer any daft questionsthumbup

Lots of threads on this topic if you have a search around.

I have a NA S2 and love it to bits, including the peaky power delivery. For £20k you don't have much choice to be honest-good luck on picking up an S for that money. I think £25k is the lowest they're going for at the moment... Only you can decide after driving them whether the extra mid-range grunt is worth it. If you're planning on tracking it you won't see much difference as the NA is pretty much always on 2nd cam. You can always get the Lotus ECU upgrade that lowers the cam change point to 5700 rpm and this definately improved the drivability. Bear in mind if you fancy more power later there are options for aftermarket superchargers for the NA.

Some people feel removing the roof is a bit ghay and spoils the looks (although having had a boxster, no problem there I guesswink ) . Very much a personal thing.

Always buy on condition, not milage. There are a few garage queens out there with very low milage that could be a worse bet than a regularly used (but loved) higher milage one.

If you drive one, you'll be hooked, assuming you're after a more raw experience than the boxster.

Just a quick note. I sold my exige and boiught a boxster in 2006. Regretably i made the wrong decision and as a result promptly sold the boxster, Both very good cars i just hope you appreciate the rawness of the exige. Awesome car but very very different to the boxster. Enjoy the exige and invest in a pipercross air filter and a stage 2 zorst!

i agree, after writing off my elise i bought a boxster (october) the boxster is now sold and i'm looking for another elise , would be an exige if my budget would stretch that far but sadly it wont. now if only that 3.2 flat six ond the seats from a boxster would fit in an elise..........

I have a 2005 model n/a with touring pack and it has no airbags. I got some carpets, 1 inch wide sunvisors, electric windows and a small net behind the seats!! lol!

Yes but you need a Super Touring Pack to get Airbags. Im fairly sure the STP was available on the N/A. I test drove a N/A at Formula 1 in 2006 and that had STP with airbags.

Yep// super touring... but I dont think many 2006 Exiges were specced with the S/T pack ... I reckon that findng one at your budget could be quite a long haul!

My budget is now about 25kish now but i must admit finding one with airbags is quite difficult. The cars going to be used as an everyday car to go to work in etc so i want airbags. Shifting my Boxster going to be the hard thing they dont seem to be selling well at all.

£300/month over 3 years gets you about £9-9.5k to play with from memory, depending on the rate on offer.

if you look on lotus website you can use the used car locator

http://www.grouplotus.com/cars/used_car_locator.ht...

you can put in your spec so if you want an exige with super touring, it will tell you whats available, only through Lotus dealers though.

Personally I wouldnt get too hung-up on the airbag thing, I'd be more interested in getting the right build and colour option.

Sounds like there's a girlfriend nagging behind the scenes. biggrin
