Can anyone suggest which oil to use for a Ford Crossflow as I am getting all sorts of differing suggestions, thanks,

John.

Which Ford crossflow, how old is it and what are you doing with it?

It's a 1600 bored to a 1700 and it's in a 1993 Westfield-that's all I know.Also semi-synthetic or not?
Thanks, John.

I'd use a good quality 20/50 mineral or semi synthetic 15/40. I would assume it's a reasonably old engine which won't have the close tolerances of modern engines.
I use Valvoline racing 20/50 in my race engine but that may be a tad ott for normal road use although it isn't overly expensive in the grand scheme of things.
Just to add that if you don't know what's in it at the moment do a full oil and filter change so you don't mix oils

The best oil by far is Royal Purple. Why dont you ring them and they will advise you. They are based in Cornwall and there No is 01209 216 666.

I'm fairly sure I used to use duckhams classic 20/50 mineral oil in the 1700 xflow in my westfield... check with the guys on wscc as loads of them still run these engines.

What he said, but Valvoline racing is perfect for a tweaked road engine like the crossflow!!
