Radiator bleed screw

In replacing a dodgy fan switch I have broken the fix between the captive nut and the radiator bleed screw 
It seemed as if the solder was at best weak ,or had maybe been repaired previously. I have been advised to try a repair with chemical metal. But I wonder what your thoughts maybe?
