in terms of performance it depends which sti ppp you go for. here are the stats prodrive give for the 2003-2005 engine...

http://imwww.imgroup.co.uk/IMGGB/WWW/Subaru_Access...

you have to remember though that these figures would have been obtained in a controlled enviroment, with a suitable test driver and no regard for transmission wear/failure.

Another thing worth noting is that the 2002(bugeye) sti's have a lower volumetric efficientcy engine, giveing lower performance! 2006/2007 2.5 litre sti's give much better torque and should give best performance figures out of all the ppp cars!

MPG depends solely on use! on track i should imagine you could get it down as low as 5 and with very carefull driving as high as 30, around the ring for example i was getting around 4 laps per tank on a de-catted 04 sti ppp and even then could only manage 2 laps at a time as fuel surge is an issue much under 1/2 tank

Servicing is due every 10,000 miles and cost depends on wether you go through a main dealer/which part of the country there in, or a specialist tuner etc

We find the heaviest wearing items to be brakes, tyres, clutches and shock absorbers/top mounts but engine/transmissions are very reliable on the sti's with the only problems being worn syncro's and this is only after extremely hard use!

Thanks for the info. I'm test driving a 55 plate one later to see if i like the drive.

Sounds like it has lots of torque, which i like in a car, so should be fun!

With Standard day to day driving, do you think about 20mpg is a realistic combined figure?

I get 20 ish from my RB320 which is the same engine, others are reporting similar or a little bit more (up to 24-25 IIRC). Super unleaded, remember.

you can have a 55 plate on a my2005 2.0(blobeye headlights), so make sure if you want the torque that its a my2006 2.5(hawkeye headlights)..... but if there is a possibility that you want to tune the car to a semi serious level later on, go for the 2.0 as can take upto 500hp on the standard engine where the 2.5 is only really good for 400hp due to the weaker cast hypereutectic pistons, engine block/liners and lack of the nitrided crankshaft as fitted to the 2.0.

I will be able to tell you the general cost of living with the exact same car although mine has been remapped to 330 bhp. I reckon i will get about 23mpg on a tank if i can withstand the urge to let it loose above 4k!
It will need a service soon as well, its done 22k and i will go to main dealer for this initial visit as i have a couple of small issues to sort out. Mainly the intercooler spray thingy.
Ins cost me £590 and a full tank from absolute empty was 62 quid on super u/l. I am allowing for up to £300 a month.

Yes.
They fitted my PPP; no issues - good old fashioned type of garage, with mechanics who know what they are doing.
