Running hot

Anyone got any suggestions?

Whilst in chunnel queue last week got very warm,didnt overheat. Could hear fans cutting in but since realised only one.shorted fan switch still only one,checked fuses all seem ok but fuses dont tally with anything in the bible.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.Nearly forgot very early 1996 500hc.

from memory there are two fan relays. Without a multimeter the quickest way to check is to swap the leads to each fan (at the fans) obviously if the other one runs then its ok. The next step is to swap the relays above the fuses, I'll get the positions for you if you need 'em.

On My 96 they only had one fuse 40A top left and the relay was big yellow one top left too.

quite right - just been down to have a look - single relay top left - must be (much) earlier cars with two

Thanks for that gents,swapped fan wiring and other fan works.Swapped relays[i have two]and guess what? both now working.

You could consider getting rid of your pre cats which makes life a lot cooler under the engine bay
