The dial that controls the direction of overflow went "ping" and now just turns round and round.

Looking through previous threads, I can see that it is a "top off dash" job (left hand bolts undone and hinge up I believe). But is it likely to be the cable snapped or the screw fallen out. And, depending on which one, will it be easy to fix bearing in mind it is the lower of the two dials?

Thanks

Alex

Either way, you need the dash top off

Do that and everything should be pretty obvious to a gifted mechanic.......

Which you must be if you can get the dash top off

Alex,
I'm almost 100% that it'll be a screw that's fallen out. The cables are really thick piano wire stuff.
I made a thread about this some time ago, if you can find it. The top wheel has to come off.

Matt

Think I found it earlier but can't find it now....

Did you "hinge" the dash top by just removing the 2 left hand bolts? Was it easy to take off the top wheel? I'm sure it's fiddly....

Thanks

You can do that but you run the risk of the bolt from the dash top damaging the leather (you'll understand when it comes off) and you have to loosen the third bolt anyway

Personally I'd take the whole thing off, but try hinging it first
