Has anyone made an overhead console in their Ultima for an interior light etc. ?

I will be flipping my chassis over quite soon, so it would probably be easier to do at
that stage I think - maybe just a panel of aluminium would do the job...

Any ideas, tips, photos would be much appreciated.
Thanks very much..

There's a GTR on sale in the classifieds with the overhead console with lights installed on carbon fiber.

I have 6 rivnuts, 3 either side, in the top of the roll cage. The idea was that if I ran outta dash space I could bolt in a carbon panel and have a wooden template with the holes drilled through if I need to go that way in the future. The idea was to do this before the body went on as you'll never get to it once on.

Check Ikoms site, the August 2005 section has some photographs
of his console.

Hey Clive - that looks really good !

Can you tell me about the construction of it, and also the routing that you used for the wiring ?

Thanks very much,

Basic Construction is a 16g Ally sheet, rolled on all sides, then fabricated all the protrusions etc in the same ally and had it welded up. Ground down and filled where I wanted it smooth then had it trimmed by the Pro's.

Wiring goes down the side pod of the car, then up around the of rear cage and follows the cage until at the roof... leaving enough so you can unbolt the pod and hang it down. Put a Neg terminal in the roof area to save on some cables...
