Aston RS Filmed At 'Ring

Aston Martin Vantage V12 RS spied testing at the Nurburgring

RS could be quickest Aston yet
RS could be quickest Aston yet
An Aston Martin V12 RS mule has been apparently filmed testing at the Nurburgring.

It had been initially thought that the RS was just a styling and engineering exercise but a number of protiotypes have been spotted recently.

The latest film shows what looks like a regular V8 Vantage but has a rear diffuser and bonnet vents like the original prototype.

The concept had a 6.0L V12 from the DBS and a claimed 0-60mph time of around 4.0 seconds, which combined with the car's light weight means it could be the fastest Aston ever around a track.

There should be carbon-ceramic brakes and a louvred bonnet to aid cooling.

Production is expected to take place at Gaydon, alongside the regular V8, and the car could go on sale within the next year.

Man, these 'spy' cameras are getting stealthier all the time. To be able to 'hide' six or seven videao cameras round the 'Ring without Aston Martin having a clue that they were all there filming is quite unbelievable. Literally.

I think its all a bit relative........

If you take the car for what it is, we might have expected a "little" more in the way of noise, but still.........its still sounds bloody amazing!

You have to assume that this is Aston Martin's answer to the F430 Scuderia or Gallardo Superleggera (spelling!?).

In that respect I think it sounds far too tame.

Even more so when you consider how loud the standard V8V is.

New aston ! looks good but kind of like all the others.....
driven by mags "pre production" version , rave reviews.
road test follows slightly less favourable
comparison test on uk roads shows car not sorted , bad build, uninspiring handling etc etc
aston release modified version a few months later
more good reviews ( sod the buggers that bought the early ones. dampers , remap etc can be retrofitted, for a price of course!)
after few months of ownership 60 percent cars sold due to crap reliability......
but thats ok its aston (british and all that , dont you know hesketh you old buzzard!?) so all faults forgotten about. unless you were stupid/brave/masochistic enough to buy one.

sound familiar????????

( can be applied to just about any Aston of "modern era")

Pardon me for not exactly leaping with joy.

Looked good on the video in the balck wheels, not so hot in silver wheels. Did you hear the bottom out scrape at the carousel - it looks a bit soft to me. biggrin

I really do hope that it turns out to be a credible rival to the Scuderia and the Superleggera.

I thought it looked a bit floaty earlier in the lap. Seems hard to reconcile with the images in Evo where it looked just about the lowest stiffest car I've seen that isn't a McDonalds D-Thru shed.

That video is straight forward porn. Fantastic. Loving the black wheels on the blue paint. Does look a tad soft, but i'm sure its being developed. If i sell all my worldly possessions (including the house and the wife) i might just get one! weeping

Agreed, seems more like a commercial then spy footage. Still absolutely lovely though.

Every manufacturer should put their biggest engine in their smallest car...

V10 Cayman

why dont they just put a puker light weight exhaust system, and a carbon airbox on it to liberate a few more dB if not a few more associated HP, surely they could just nip down to banbury and ask for a few of the airboxes (or something similar) from the dbr9 or even dbrs9. if they are only going to sell it in small numbers at X hundred thousand pounds surely they could justify a few more for a bet soundtrack? all its competitors have one...
