Has anyone thought of modifying one of the standard coolant pipes that houses a couple of sensors? Why are two sensors that interupt water flow so close to each other in the same pipe?
Now I know bugger all about thermo dynamics and finer points of water flow rates, but to me it seems there could be a better place for one of these protruding sensors. Or do they HAVE to be there for some reason?

Arrowed in blue are the actual positions. In green is a rough idea where it could go. Any reason why one of the sensors can't go there?

Opinion please.

To be honest the whole design is a bit of an abortion. You could quite easily design and make a better system that doesnt have quite so many runs of pipes and re position the sensors in a better place. I am positive it would make a big difference in coolant temperatures and the effectiveness of the cooling system.
By the way i still have a pair of cerb manifolds if your interested wink

Yep I have, mine has had both bosses cut down and pulled out so that it is only the very tip of the sensor in the flow.

The problem with shifting one of the sensors is that it'll only see half the the engine as each of the feed pipes comes from one half of the engine.

Did you notice any difference after you made the mod Ridds?
See what you mean now about the position

tbh bot really, however it's only going to show up when you really work the car hard.

It'll reduce flow at high engine speed and so improving the pipe size will prevent high speed overheats.

As I take mine to tracks I deffinately didn't want that happening. Also, increased back pressure at high engine speed can cause cavitation which will knacker your water pump.

Ok, thanks for the info Rid.

Think I'll do the same and see if I can get one custom made. As I feel cooling is such an important and often overlooked area in a Cerb.
