GTA killed my xbox, kept freezing up mid-game then eventually RROD'd it. Went out and bought a reconditioned machine and the game worked fine, for about two days. I was told that it was the original machine at fault and not the game but it has now started freezing up, typically within a minute of starting to play the game. I am starting to get really f

king pissed off with the whole thing now, anyone else had any similar issues?The game isn't a killer, the XBox is well known for crap reliability, I've clocked up well over 40 hours on GTA on mine, made sure to have the room well ventilated and it's been fine.
Think you've just had a bad run of luck, combined with you probably using the XBox more than normal.

While it's true that you can't kill an XBOX360 with game code, you *can* constantly run at the limits of processor and I/O capacity which will certainly expose any potential issues that your XBOX may have. From what I can tell, GTA is quite relentless in this respect.

You do seem to be going through them alot.
No offence but you do get a lot of people complainging about the xbox yet still have it sitting on the carpet or in a slot in a tv cabinet.
I think it's also worth mentioning the importance of hoovering the ventilation holes in the top, side and back. I do that atleast once a week with mine.You do seem to be going through them alot.

It's probably not a GTA specific issue, probably more about the frankly shocking reliability of the Xbox.king pissed off with the whole thing now, anyone else had any similar issues?How about using a USB laptop cooling pad, would that help in taking the temps down..?
The machine is in the coolest part of my entire house, well ventilated etc so I don't think cooling is the issue. It only has problems with GTA, watching DVD's, playing Oblivion, Forza, anything else is fine, but as soon as my save game is loaded on GTA I have approximately one minute before either the screen goes suddenly black or I get like a short sharp static type noise and the picture distorts and freezes. I'm just so pi$$ed off, been waiting for the game to come out forever and now it is just causing me endless frustration......
Also worth noting is the position of the power brick. This gets pretty hot and also has a small fan inside it so keep this well ventilated also and not in a big bundle of cables behind the TV.
Keep a can of compressed air for keeping my xbox vents clear, also give the PC a good seeing too every so often.
