I have just collected my new 111s. It is 3 yrs old this summer, 15k on the clock and in black, air con, LOVE IT!!!! Not had a chance to do much driving in it, but loved every second so far. Gave it a clean last night and looks awesome (how do I get pictures on here?) Acceleration is amazing but going round corners just makes me grin every time, passengers seem a little scared though! People don't think it's possible for a car to handle this well..

Couple of questions. Did the hardtop come as standard on the 2005 111s? Just want to make sure for insurance purposes as they need to know about any options.

Also, anyone got any tips on cleaning the exhaust pipes? There is a little black residue on the exits, anything good for getting this off?

I have it booked in for it's B service next week then should have a chance to get out on some decent drives.

Will put picture on when I find out how.....

if you think it goes around corners well now, try it with Nitrons and semi-slicks!

Congrats on the purchase. smile

Nitrons?

I currently have the Bridgestone tyres on there, was thinking of changing to the Yoko's (standard on the newer Elise I beleive). Is that a good move?

Similar to my own 111S. Good choice obviously !

I would think the top was an option/extra, try Brasso or
autosol type stuff on the tips, better still get a Larini
Club Sport system.

Nitrons are a suspension upgrade, although £1,000 + VAT (+ fitting if you dont do that yourself) so not cheap. If you've not come from Lotus (or noble or similar) then the handling is probably quite satisfactory for you for now to be honest!

Not sure what yokos you are referring to but if its AO48s, awesome tyre but not if its your everyday car as they arent much cop in the wet, or even in the mildly moist.

They started bunging in the hardtop & touring pack as standard in the last batch of 111s's IIRC so it probably was standard in yours.

Good choice!

I prefer Megs NXT Metal Polish (little green/purple tub), less messy.

Thanks for the advise will look into one those cleaning products.

What did the touring pack consist of? Yeah the guy did say the roof was standard, however I have seen it listed as an option before (guess he got standard in the last batch of 111s's that someone said).

Any guides to putting a picture on here?

As for the suspension upgrades I would say it is great as standard (plus firm enough ride wise as it it!) The great thing about this car for me is I love it all as standard and don't feel the need to change / upgrade things. I always said the next car I purchased would be fast and great handling and looking as standard - all boxes ticked for me!!

As I do use it as a dry weather weekend car I will put those new Yoko's on though.

Can easily pick this up in any halfrauds, rub it on and wipe it off. If its thick try using it with some fine wirewool.

Do some proper checking before you buy them (if you are referring to A048)- I have a feeling you would need to upgrade the suspension first as the stresses on the components are greater due to the increased grip. I think only the Elise 135 and Exiges can accept the Yokohamas as standard as they have the Lotus Sport Suspension (LSS). I'm sure someone will confirm, or try doing a search.
