Hi guys,

I am a TVR noob - only had my chim for 4 days smile but have seriously adopted the TVR grin....

so please bear with me when i ask questions that i cant find answers to....

I can see that the clutch slave cylinder is screwed down then sealed with some form of mastic and I want to check the fluid level (which i forgot to do when buying the car)

SO before i open the cover and take a look - what sealant do you experts recommend to waterproof the cover afterwards? I am assuming i need something that can be fairly easily removed 'next time' but wont peel off in a week.

A litte guidance would be appreciated.

Cheers

I use sikaflex where i need a bit of adhesive, or the joint is visable (such as sealing the rear light clusters) as its black. Anywhere else i use B+Q translucent silicone sealant because i find it easier to use, quicker to cure, less messy, and easier to remove too.

Hope that helps

I just bought some 'Soudal Soudaflex' from here

The same as Sikaflex but much cheaper.

If you use Sikaflex wear latex gloves when you apply itor it will be on your hands for ages.

My tube split when I did the headlight access covers so it is essential.

Another vote for the Soudaflex product here too but would always have a tub of their wipes to hand as well... will remove the goo when not much else does.

I've just used ordinary black silicon sealant from B&Q, works a treat. Just make sure you buy a general purpose version not the bathroom/kitchen one as that has some kind of acid in to kill mould and its mighty unfriendly on paintwork .
