I found the cherry bomb conversion to be a bit too loud recently and gone off it a bit. So I decided to try and tone it down a bit by adding some perforated pipe. I opened the box to fimd I didnt have cherry bombs in the first place furious( thats a different story and ill be posting a warning to all on the general forum). I cut 200mm of pipe out and replaced it with perforated tube, replaced the wadding and welded it all back up.

Im quite pleased with the result. Ive got a very deep exhaust note, not too loud unless you want to play. The down side is ive lost the crackle of the straight trough pipes.

ill try and get a video sorted and post it later

Pic 2 200mm cut

Pic 3 perforated pipe welded in

Pic 4 replaced the wadding

Well done.
How is the original exhaust constructed? Only to have the comparison...

Surely you should be doing this for a living?

You could call it the "Nuclear Bomb" mod, ok, it wouldn't actually have a Nuclear Bomb in it but you could call it that anyway I doubt anyone would find out hehe

Ah, I see what the diff is. The perf pipe isn't as big as the original one.

What metal is the exhaust in the back box. Is it stainless or just mild steel?

The length of the original pipe inside the box is about 400mm i cut out 200mm in the middle and slid the perf over each end, to keep it all staight, if that makes sense.rolleyes

Yep, makes sense. It's been a while since I've seen the inside of my old box. Ok that sounds rude. laugh

PS yours sounds good in a subtle way when idling compared to how it must have sounded previously. I am actually starting to like it more than the proper straight-through exhausts. I guess I care too much about my neighbours these days.

now you have used perferated pipe the silencer box needs to be welded perfect leak free, was it difficult to weld it all back ?it did not matter before as the pipe created the seal

It was a bit of a pain as i only had a MMA set, if id had a MIG welder it would have been a piece of cake. managed to get it leak free though
