Evenin' all...

I'm a one-man PC fettler (electron juggling a speciality) and was wondering what your thoughts are about van signage.

I run a fairly old Escort van (T reg) as things are a bit tight financially at the moment (The T5 had to go to fund the wedding weeping) but it doesn't look too bad although there's a bit of a ding on the back doors from when it was stolen.

It's clean enough & a nice deep metallic green.

I was thinking about putting some signs on the side panels as cheap advertising. Good idea or not? Although I don't store stuff in the van (well, not after it was stolen anyway - learnt that lesson the hard way. Bluetooth GPS module & iPaq went then, along with a knackered tv & vacuum that I was going to drop at the tip, hope the buggers electrocuted themselves) I don't particularly want people breaking in to see if I've left any laptops in there!

What are the thoughts about magnetic signs Vs vinyl?

Any things to watch out for?

I was thinking of just some gold text against the green background. I know there's various places online that vary from cheap to eyewatering (cheap is good... I can't spend a fortune at the moment and I'll be looking to upgrade the van in 6 - 12 months when things settle a bit) and I don't mind applying it myself.

Any recommended supplliers?

Cheers - PBF

Talk to Andy at NOAH signs.

He's based near Oulton Park but also travels to clients.

Great bloke and not dear.

I wouldn't recommend gold on green for a tech company as that would be quite a traditional look - May be a monochrome style or really light blue might work well?

Now that's something I hadn't thought of. Thanks, I'll have a play on PaintShopPro & see what it looks like. By Mono, do you mean a lighter shade of green?

Any other ideas for colours?

ETA: The cheapest I've found online is about £23 per side panel, I'll have a ring around but I don't think I'll beat that.

I have to say that signage has generated very little/next to no business for me in the past.

With this in mind I wouldnt go over the top.

thats a very good price, I have a cutter I bought to do stuff for the race car and odds and ends, and by the time you've bought the materials cut it, and weeded it there isnt a huge margin. I take it thats supply only for 23 quid per side

most supply and fit prices i've seen start at about 150 quid for a few things on a van

cheers
