does it fail on both switches or just one?
could be a bad feed if the total closure supplies a feed from another sorce, then that would explain why it works

It may be worth looking behind the door speaker. On mine, the connector to the door motor was a bit flakey and would cause random failures of the mechanism.

I didn't think that the window operation was linked to the alarm at all? Isn't it on a permanent live all the time? (I can't check as my Chim is in hospital ATM).

but if it was a bad connection would it not work altogether? or if it was a seperate circuit for the alarm how come the button starts to work the window after the alarm has been used?

It sounds to me like your window switch has had it.
Try pulling the switch out from the center console and swapping it with the drivers side window switch.
As the alarm total closure bit works then shirley the motor and wiring in the door must be ok.
I would therefore suspect the switch. Dirt cheap to buy.
Just a thought.
Paul.

Not strictly true, these cars do not have "total closure", they have remote locking only. You can add a module to close windows at the same time, a completely different setup to total closure.

There is a fair chance the full closure module could be your problem.
