Hi all,i'd like to know if on the AJP V8,wheather TVR balanced the flywheel and crank together, just like on the RV8 cars,or if they were balanced individually?

Rv8 cars weren't balanced to any exacting standards afik. I thing the cranks would be balanced to the internal componants (the rough weights would already be known) and then after engine assembly the crank would be spun up by a machine and final balancing at the pulley would take place. I say this because I've found 10mm bolts hammered under the pulley lip. Very cheap but cheerfull enoughsmile

didn't think you could balance the rotating assembly once in the block.

^ They fit the engine into a machine which then drives the engine at speed. The engine isn't running by itself iirc. Quite clever really and expensive. I think Rover had two of these machines.

I've not seen an ajp flywheel with drill holes in it,like you do the tvr rv8's,so the natural assumption is that they are balanced seperately?I want to swap flywheels over from one engine to another, but i'm afraid i might upset the balance of the engine.

I'm sure there is a section on AJP crank balancing in the AJP re build manual. If I can find mine I'll report back.
