Not long now until another awesome road trip and great Motorsport event...
Couple of questions, as this is my first year in a TVR. Last year I had an S2000.
1. Does anyone know roughly how much the total cost of fuel from calais to Le Mans will be in my t350, and I know everyone does different speeds, its just to try and get a rough idea how much I will be spending on fuel.
2. What do most people take in way of spares e.t.c
3. do any of you take a spare jerry can, my fuel sensor doesn't seem to be the most accurate, would this be a wise idea.
4. What is the most common fault on long journeys in TVR's
Cheers folks.
Andy..

Andy,
1. Depends on the route you take at the end of the day sticking to the main roads will give you a steady mpg but can be boring. We filled up down the road from Calais and topped up the tank just outside Le Mans with just over a Qtr showing on the gauge. Mixture of roads and not hanging about at times.
2. According to the Gendarnes you should have at least a spare bulb kit! I also had some fuses & Duct Tape. (Very Handy one year!)
3. i never have as boot space is always a premium less room for beer!
Make sure you fill up before you enter Le Mans. (With Beer as well)
4. Last year the car ran fine down to Le Mans but suffered electrical glitches on the way home as we drove through a monsoon. Still got me home and was fine when dried out.
Don't worry get her checked over before you go and make sure that you have some Euro breakdown cover just in case.

When people are saying fuses I'm sure they mean normal blade fuses and also the important 100amp blade fuse which if it goes your car won't go. Also it might be worth getting a spare fuse holder for the 100amp fuse as these can be the cause for the actual fuses to go. They are not expensive and can get them from most spare parts places.
This year I'm going around Europe and prob going to take a spare throttle cable with me. Not sure if you will need this as you are not going that far.
You can get a Europe driving pack from halfords which has things like high vis jacket, spare bulbs, reflective triangle etc, All necessary things to show if you get pulled over.
Last year I also took a set of TVR jump leads as well.
I hope the weather is better than last year. Enjoy!!

I really don't know why people make sure a big deal about the journey to Le Mans. You wouldn't quibble and get the car serviced for a drive from London to Edinburgh - which is further. Take breakdown cover, check the car over, take all the docs, especially the log book (I've found that French Le BIB like to see this more than the insurance certificate if you get tugged).
Oh, and don't clean the car specially for the trip - if its dry it will get caked in flys on the way down, and every nook and cranny will be full of dust from the carpark/campsite. If it rains, well guess.
Just go and enjoy the weekend away.

I agree with all that/\ /\ Just take what you would normally take with you. In terms of fuel, I normally fill up just outside Dover, then fill up again about half way to Le Mans, and the again as I get to Le Mans. A few of the local petrol stations tend to run out of V Power by Monday, so if you have a full tank to start with, your safe.Oh, and don't clean the car specially for the trip - if its dry it will get caked in flys on the way down, and every nook and cranny will be full of dust from the carpark/campsite. Cheers for info people..
In no way am I worried about the drive, anything but, very excited to do the drive in my TVR actually, Didn't buy the car to sit in my drive..
Main reason for post was to see if fuel was going to be much more than last year in my S2K, even though I know everyone does different speeds and pace.
However, I know for a fact that my S2K was very reliable, and im not saying my T350 isn't. But It's helpful to know what things to take i.e bulbs, fuses, jump leads...
Cheers..
