Renting your Super Car
Discussion
Been thinking about it for a while and bumping into an old friend that works for a company who does this said if you play your cards right theres a few quid to be made.
I think he said an F430 made 45K last year after maintenance and layouts.
Now to me Im thinking wow even if I do a third of that it could still be a positive move plus of course I get the keys to a very nice motor, Ive got storage for the car and Im a business man too although I wouldn't had enough cash to buy the car out right a deposit of say 20K and the rest on finance with a plan of say 500 a month should keep me clear.
Would like to know if any one does this or tried this on a small scale.
Regards Mark

What normally attracts people to supercar renting is that they get a selection e.g. the P1 club. You would also have to happy with people driving your car hard and putting big miles on it, you will get bigger service bills, faster, and also have insurance, tyres etc etc to pay for. There will also be alot of miles going onto the car which will affect its resale value at some point in the future

Not true reallyHire companies put 100 miles a day limit on the cars and if you go over that you pay an extortionate rate per mile so it will make no difference to service costs as you've charged the customer more.
Same with tyres, they take tread depth when hired out and checked again when you return it, if you burn rubber you'll pay.
Big deposits are taken so if their is any sign of abuse you can deduct money from deposit to cover extra costs.
A lot of prestige hires have some kind of 24 hour tracking that the hire company can track in real time so if they suspect abuse on return they just look back on what has been logged.
Would you risk ragging a car after you've left 5-10k deposit???
I think if you do it correct then there is good money to be made, go for it.
It would appear to me the people who do this can't really afford their car. So they buy it, rent it, and hopefully somewhere in the middle they get to use it for a few months and call it their own. And I know of people who do this. It's the same thing as hiring your car out for weddings, or for track days etc. Not to come across as a snob, but who has got the time for that? Buy a car you can afford and be done with it.

Blind?Or Stupid?
And it applies to anyone who has to rent their car out to make ends meet. Unless you are in the business (i.e. not a one man band owning (or borrowing it from the bank) his one car but trying to make it pay for itself), why do that to yourself?
