Quick question... What sort of range would you expect to get out of a full tank on a Chimaera 400? Is 250 miles being optimistic?

No, that's roughly what I get out of my 4.3.

Excellent that's good to hear. Just always a bit concerned by the fuel gauge.

They are quite variable regarding driving style and length of each journey. Lots of short hops or fast country will be 200ish miles. Motorway miles could get you as high as 270

Doing fast country for the first 25ish, then 25 motorway, then 5 urban (at 6am). Just wondering if I can do the next two days to work (110 miles round trip) on a tank as I need to leave the Ka at home.

Similar to my Astra & 328...which is quite scary. Or maybe they both have a leak laugh

I carry a can, just I'd like to be sure. Beginning to think the chim might be more economical than the ka.

I've just done a 330 mile trip on 1 tank on 95% mix of 'A' & 'B' roads, the 5% being M56/60 from Warrington - Stockport.

Am I right in thinking there isn't a low fuel warning light?

I used to be nervous about going over 200 miles on a tank in my Chimaera 500.

I rarely get over 200miles on my Chim 450 though that is mostly commuter driving. On the open road I sometimes see 250miles.

There is a fuel warning light but it can be triggered on half a tank by going round a bend. It's not an indicator that I would have much faith in.

My 1997 Chimaera didn't have a fuel warning light.

I reckon on 230 miles from top up to the second of the small dots on the fuel guage, at about an indicated 1/4 tank left - but - as advised by Fernies - DON'T GO BELOW THIS! (cos it isn't a 1/4 full really)

Really? My 94 does. Still I suppose there a lot of small differences between models, depending on where the parts are sourced from.

I had over 300 miles out of my old Griff 500 years ago during the fuel strikes... but anywhere between 200 and 250 miles is more normal from 10 gallons.. depends on how you drive it.

I managed Bolton to Croydon on 3/4 a tank of fuel in my Griff though careful driving and some good traffic conditions.
