When I bought my 07 Vantage it came with the AM fitted tracker and two RFID tags (I think that's what they are) - AM badged black plastic square plates. I dutifully drive around with a tag in my pocket. A dealer mentioned that "the system" could be trained to recognise my phone (also routinely in my pocket) as a tag so I would not need to carry one of the tags. Does anyone know how to program the system to recognise the phone as a tag or is this something only AM can do? It would be nice to have to remember one less item when leaving the house!

It's amazingly simple!

Simply ring Tracker from your mobile whilst you're in the car, and they'll talk you through the set-up process.

With me it took all of 5 minutes!

No more 'having to remember' to take one of the fat cards with you!

If you're like me, be careful. I always end up letting the juice run out on my phone. At which point I'd be screwed!

My AMV8 is bluetoothed to my phone and works a treat. If my phone is running low i ring tracker and tell them to turn it just in case my phone runs out. However this is only needed if your going to turn the car off because once the tracker has verified the phone it drops the connection until you get out and lock the car and then it resets and verifys again when you get back in. So if your driving and your phone runs out it does not matter.

Charger in the car?

I rarely remember to plug it in at home/work until it's run out, let alone the car.

Besides, it's another thing to lug around/remember. May as well take the tag

I have a charger in the door pocket. No memory required.

Is this a Cobra system? I'm tempted to have this done on my system.
