A: what exactly do you get with general admission tickets?
Admission to almost all parts of the circuit appart from grandstands, private/team areas and press areas.
B: i take it i can buy them when i get there?
Look for the round building north of the airstrip, they always have GE tickets and often have cenceled and/or extra camping tickets left.
C: how long do they last? is it the whole week?
As far as I know it's valid for the whole event.

Valid for the Test day (1st June) and all the whole week of the "24 Heures du Mans" (from 11th to the 15th June: Wednesday and Thursday practices, pitwalk on Friday and week-end).
The general enclosure ticket allows you to go inside the track in the areas open to the public (including the Mulsanne and Arnage curves) which do not require any extra ticket. This ticket alone does not give access to the grandstands, the Paddock or to any of the reserved areas.
62 Euro.
Be warned though, when the flag drops on Sunday it's over. No, REALLY over. If you want to buy any shiny things to remember the race by/food/drink/etc do it BEFORE the end of the race!
You can't even buy an ice cream to eat on the walk back to your tent at 15:10PM as they will be all closed up.

True, after the race begins and during the race everything in the village is open (till they drink the Champagne bar dry).R.

I was still in the shops behind the grandstand trawling for model cars and race books long after the finish and then i bought a plate of chicken and chips and washed it down with a cold beer ! That was at least an hour after the podium celebratons. The bars in the village wont be open though.

Ahh, nothing quite like a Grand Marnier crepe at 6AM on the way back from watching the sun come up at Mulsanne/Arnage

We actually get a discount on tickets. When you arrive on camp you'll be given the means to get the discount from the ACO's ticket office.

Also, for all you penny-pinchers out there, if you are between the ages of 16 and 18, or hold a current Student ID (not necessarily International/NUS ones, UK ones work too, provided you get a nice person at the ticket stand...), you can get the weekend entrance tickets for EUR 34.
Anyone who has little scamps with them who are under the age of 16 can get them in free.
