any other mk2 owners miffed about price of upgrade

i purchased my mk2 in march 2001. i want the 125 upgrade but see no reason why lotus would alienate exisiting mk2 owners by charging them double!!
perhaps had we not purchased our mk2's lotus would be in bigger trouble then they are.
i would love to hear from any mk2 owners that feel the same so i can contact lotus with some back up

if you do contact Lotus ask them what strategie they are following. On one side they want to sell more cars outside the uk and with this upgrade they only give this discount to cars sold in the uk.
I wonder how the dealers outside the uk react. As i mentioned in another topic : if i realy want to by the 135 bhp i could order one in the uk. this doesn't make sense. How will they motivate the dealers outside the uk to sell more if they don't give them equal chances as in the uk ??? Or is this Britisch conservatism towards europe ???

I think the cost is just a reflection of the difference between fitting the 135 sport upgrade at the factory upon new build when they just wheel the car from one shed to another, and the cost of retro-fitting when part of the engine has to be dismantled.
Of course, Lotus are also offering a special half-price offer at the moment for orders placed before February 2002 (UK only, it seems). Sorry if you missed out on this, but every manufacturer and retailer is prone to surprise discount offers; and Murphy's law determines that it's just after you've placed your order...

This is taken word for word from a posting on the British cars bbs but a guy called Dave Andrews - who appears to be THE MAN with regards to tuning the K-series. He has even produced a brilliant, comprehensive, document covering most aspects of tuning the engine, the effects on power/torque/fuel consumption and engine longevity. Well worth a read (look through earlier topics on this bbs about tuning and you'll find a link to it - I cant remember where it is!)
Anyway....in response to a question I asked him he wrote :
"A nice inexpensive engine upgrade would be ported standard valved head (£400), reworked plenum and Piper 270 cams (£250) and an EBD exhaust (£350). Properly done you should get around 150BHP+ and 140+ lb/ft torque.
so there ya go!
