If you want to get rid of the problem.
Download the Firefox web browser. Then install the plug-in called 'Adblock Plus' and you'll be laughing.
I haven't seen an add on here since I've been a member.
Makes sites cleaner and more to the point.
Maybe google add blocking for Internet Explorer?

Looking at what I perceive to be the (fast changing) PH demographic, phone contracts and loans (presumably sub-prime) I can just about understand.
I cant remember the name of the advertiser. From memory it was a name similar to "Aldi" or some such. Maybe we could have a "report" button on the ads too? Then you'd find out which ones people hated.
As for firefox, Im interested in trying that. My tiny sphere of net knowledge only extends as far as internet explorer. Thanks for the tip.

Much as I dislike adverts, they do pay for this site and allow us to use it for free. So you'll forgive me if I say that I think people who use ad blockers are parasitic freeloaders.
Having said that, if adverts were to become too intrusive (like the much-reviled pop-over) then I may change my tune.

As I understand it, the site hasnt always had ads. So at what point does an ad blocked user become parasitic? At the very first one, or when there are so many for such rubbish that its actually detracting from the quality of the site or the user's experience?I imagine the purchase prices of most popular print publications are subsidised by advertising revenue. So if I flick through and decide to not look at the ad or remove YET ANOTHER Demon Tweeks catalogue in the MCN and bin it, am I parasitic?

Just googled the add on for internet explorer and it's not made.It's free, google it to get it.
I have no adds on the internet and the ones that get through you can right click and hide/ add to the ban list.
Maybe I'm missing out and there are adverts for something I never knew I wanted. Maybe I'm a parasitic freeloader and cry myself to sleep at night over it.
I come to this site and others for their content, not for the adverts that flash, pop up, make noises etc...
I've coped so far without them.

I didn't use to have a problem with the adverts when they actually related to PH (racing green, weltmeister, etc) i even used to click on them and look around the sites. Having said that, if adverts were to become too intrusive (like the much-reviled pop-over) then I may change my tune.
