Hello Boys and Girls. Yes its that time of year again, Le Man is upon us with just for weeks to go. Myself and friends are staying in Camp Bleu arriving on the wednesday. Just curious who else is going? and if anyone fancies a meet on the Mulsanne on friday? Pending police beahaviour and weather.
Would be good to have a few of us parked together, few beers etc.

Cheers chaps

Will be down again this year in the Monaro.
Last year was spoilt by the mayor of LeMans declaring zero tolerance on us brits stopping the likes of the usual mulsanne straight gatherings. They were even pulling cars over for revving their engines too enthusiasticly. Together with the ste weather which dampened festivities slightly('scuse the pun).
Hoping it should be a return to form this year, if only the weather smile

If the mulsanne etc is open we'll be taking a drive round there so will keep an eye out for anyone.
In convoy with a mitsi evo, corrado, and a merc amg.

we are off from portsmouth to caen on the thu. Used to camp but now stay with a French family in LeMans.
When you get your own bed, food, drink etc its very hard to go back to camping. Ha ha

anyway should be around Mulsanne at lunchtime and into the afternoon.

Anyone know some nice bars etc..etc. in lemans itself. Would be good to check them out.....something different.

Have been to Le Mans for about the last 8 years, but we have decided to give it a miss this year and are going to the Le Mans Classic in July instead.

Each year the main race in June is attended by more and more yobs and with their hooligan 'Brits abroad' type behaviour it is not surprising that the French authorities are clamping down and taking more and more action. It's a shame that this minority spoils things for everyone else.

The Friday gathering at Indianapolis is a great part of the weekend, so for the feds to prevent this is a real shame. Can't help but think that by doing this all they are going to achieve is even more traffic chaos and loutish behaviour around the roads outside the campsites.

hey, yes very true.

I must admit as the race becomes a formality its normally been the enjoyment on the friday that make le mans. Too much loutish behaviour could turn me away from lemans in the future.

Lets hope the feds try and just maintain good order and not close parts of the circuit that have provided good meeting points with plenty of cars on display....

lets see how it goes this year....

More young punks turn up every year and dont enjoy the spirit of Le Man. Granted im only 24, however I really enjoy the racing. Beer and sunshine is an added bonus. If anything the rain last year made it such an intense race! Everyone really had to think about tyres and im sure it kept the drivers on pace... The highlight was standing under the winners podium being drenched in champers... ! Like you've all said I hope the police let us congregate and socialize abit more this time.

well, LeMans was pretty good this year. Typical goings on but the damn "feds" blocked off arnage down to indianapolis again. Mare....

The parade was real good plus ended up in a nightclub til 4am in the centre!.

Didnt see any other VXR8's but saw two Monaro's. One red 5.7 in the car park by the houx annexe campsite (vert campsites). Also a black one near the Alain Prost go-kart track. Anyone here????

Bring on next year....

Glad to hear you had a good time maverick.

Reading some of the comments on here... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&a... ... it sounds as though the general behaviour down there continues to get worse.

For those that preferred the atmosphere a few years ago, the Le Mans Classic is the new Le Mans! I'll be there...anyone else going to the Classic in July?

Yes, fuel availability permitting! Couldn't bring myself to go to Le Mans this year (or British Touring Cars races) now some teams are using tractor engines frowncry

also fuel prices in France are more expensive than in the UK.....

If we move close to £2 a litre I will consider something else for day to day runs......circa 60mpg. Its gettin stupid now!
