A 355 F1 and the reason I say F1 is. how is the gearbox compared to the CSL? paddle shift I mean...I want a 355 but I don't want a crappy gearbox, if that makes sense...? And I could get manual but lets assume I am not going to for now..

Thanks!

I used to have an M3 CSL and I test drove a 355 F1 yesterday.

Haven't heard great things about the 355 F1 box. Thought it must be dated compared to the CSL and the latest Ferrari's. I was pleasantly surprised. Much better than I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, it's not as good as the CSL and slightly different to drive (you have to press both paddles together to get the car in neutral) but the changes are still pretty nippy. I’m now torn between getting an F1 or a manual….

If you don't want a crappy gearbox get a manual.

Why anyone would want to own an F1 355 willingly when they could have the manual version is beyond me. hehe

Indeed, slightly different but I've got a CSL and I bought a manual Gallardo Spyder the other day. Tryed the e-Gear and it is frankly crap - the SMG works especially on track but the Lambo (and I think Fezza's apart perhaps from a 430) benefit from manual.

Ferrari F1 gearboxes only started to come together on the Challenge Stradale onwards.

For 355s and 360s definitely get a manual. Plus the joy of using the open gate change is part of the magic of driving those Ferraris.

Now, almost sadly, the F1 is essential to getting the most out of a modern Ferrari...

I was shocked to hear that you can actually get a 599 GTB with a manual box.

I think I'd faint if I had the pleasure of playing with that Enzo engine with a manual gearbox. Bloody hell that would be heaven!
