Can anyone give me tips on sending video down the line to the office via broadband.
I have been given a cheap £250 Panasonic camera SDR-S7 today and need to work it for tomorrow.
Know the basics of using a video camera, however, need the 'shortcuts' when it comes to sending video to the office for the IT experts to put on our web sites. I use fotostation and FTP the images.
The camera has a 2GB SD card.
Any one used this camera?
Do I need the standard (SP) setting or the longest recording time (LP)? it is for only web use.
Notice 10 sec clips takes about 1min 30 sec to send down the line, is this right?
Any tips would be most welcome
Thanks
P.

Blimey... you have a bit to learn! If your office has unlimited space and a fast connection, just send then what you get out of the camera in LP or SP mode.

It's (almost) nothing to do with the camera.... as most save in as hi res as they can (so big files)

Sending anything down the line just depends on the file size. If it's big it takes time - if it's huge, it may block the recipients e mail box (and you'll be seriously unpopular).

Once you have the video on your computer it's THEN that you need to decide what file size you need. If you just send straight from the camera the chances are it'll be huge, so open WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER (It's on your PC unless you are on a Mac) and IMPORT the video. Then drag it into the timeline (sorry, but that's what you have to do) and then 'publish' and just choose what size of file you need.... small medium or big

Save... and THEN send the file you have created

HTH

e mail me for more detailed help if you need.

Thanks Steve for your reply. I will try the software supplied with the camera. There is a timeline on the programme.

And so whatever you shoot is going straight onto your company's website for the world to see? No script, no tripod, no lighting, no decent sountrack, no editing, no proper compression?

Depending on size, upload it somewhere like megaupload or yousendit, or get a web based email account and email it to the office and yourself then check it's there in the sent items
