Xbox 360 Cable Help
Discussion
Hi All,
Looking for some help if possible. I have a Core Xbox 360 got it xmas '06 and have just bought a HD TV, I have been told it is possible to change the lead to improve the picture quality, although not to full HD quality as the Xbox doesnt have a HDMI conection on it.
Could you advise me as to which cable I should be looking at.
thanks

Not proper HD quality??? BOLLOX.
Course it can.
If you dont have HDMi it cant do it digitaly but both the Component cable and the VGA cable can offer HD resolutions. And the difference between component HD and HDMI is bugger all, you wont notice.
IMO go for the MS branded cable, either one depending on what inputs you have.

so could i just use the cable i currently have? Not sure what type it is splits into red, yellow and white connectors. Although my new tv has space for blue and green connectors too?
No.
The Core comes with a composite cable only. So video(yellow) + stereo audio (red/white).
You need a component cable or a VGA cable, depending on your TV, which sounds like it has component inputs.
The component cable has the same connectors as the composite (yellow/red/white) + red/green/blue for component.
You wont get 1080p out of component (360 can do it, your TV probably cant) but as everything is typically 720p ion the 360 anyhow it doesn't matter and you can always use 1080i.
