Just watching the Monza race on ITV4 and its been a while since a caught a GT race.

Can someone explain why the MR cars doing so poorly compared to the FR cars like the Corvette and the Aston? Are they running huge weight penalties or something?

They are different classes. The MR cars you see are GT2 spec Ferrari's and rear engined GT2 Porsches. The Corvettes, Aston etc are in GT1 class.

I thought the massers / moselers were GT1 as well though.

The lightweight cars are handicapped, to the point that Ginetta pulled out of the lightweight GT4 class in protest. I think there are weight, air intake restrictor and ride height changes that the rule markers can enforce. It's the same in GT3 and GT1, and most of the penalties are carried by the Corvettes and Ford GTs etc, though they still win...
