Hi,

Just thought I’d introduce myself having just joined PH. I’m James, I’m 23 and from Sussex. I’ve just bought an 87 Camaro IROC-Z with the 305 TPI V8 and auto gearbox. It’s hardtop in red, has covered 90,000 miles and in very good shape. I’ve always liked American cars and the 3rd gen Camaros are sensible money, plus I love the styling.

She’s got a few mods fitted by previous owners….

Flowmaster muffler and twin exits
B+M Shifter (not sure if I like this or not!)
Blackout Taillights
K&N air filters

It’s a bit of a beast and totally unlike anything I’ve owned or driven before, the most powerful cars I’ve owned have been a Cavalier V6 and a Volvo 850 T5 which probably have similar power outputs (190-200bhp) but nowhere near the level of low down grunt this thing has. And the NOISE! Got a few jobs planned, which essentially involve a service, new brakes and a bit of a tidy. I drove her back from Cardiff to home in Brighton on Friday and still getting used to the left hand drive, it’s not too bad though I actually quite like it in a way.

So any other Camaro owners out there? I saw a red 3rd gen parked in Brighton a few weeks back it’d be interesting if there were any locally.

Cheers

James

Hi welcome to the Camaro fold.... Had an 86' Iroc for years, good cars.. (do tend to eat the brakes if you drive them properly !)

Enjoy it... !!!!!

Hi James, congrats on your first yank!!

I've had a 4th Gen Z/28 for a few years now, great all round car and cheap to run too. The poor old bird has been left out for a couple of years since I bought a C6 Z06, but I had her MOTd last week so it's still running sweet.

If you ever fancy a go on the drag strip to test and tune the car as you sort it drop us a line, it's all good cheap fun and you'll meet alot of other like minded muscle owners with cars of all power levels from stock to silly!

I like the sound of the C6! There is a yellow one I see occasionally in Brighton, great looking car.

I don't really want to drag race her but I'd like to opportunity to meet up with other Yank owners. Perhaps I could come along and watch some drag racing one day?
