I've used Magnatec 10w40 for oh years now. Engine loves it. Dont put standard Mobil 1 in, its too thin. I know some people swer by the thicker Mobil1 motorsport stuff but its damned expensive.
Wise words
your Magnatec is more oil than this engine needs anyway, although i do like both the 15/50 Mobil 1 and know the silkolene is good stuff,i was using vauxhall fully syn for a while 5/40 and had no problems even oil consumption was good, but they have replaced the 5/40 for 5/30 and that stuff just wont do
so am on the Mobil 1 15/50 changed today strangly enough with a new sump gasket and oil strainer gasket and blue thread lock
(good insurance)thankfully no nasties in the sump(my 1st inspection);)although cam as slight pitting on lobes so thats a job for the winter(not milder but wilder)

Mobil 1 whilst expensive is bloody good... you need to take good care of your mechanical heart, if you're going to spend money anywhere then spend it here... and you only fill up your engine once a year... I just think of the cost as an extra tank or two of fuel, most of us don't hesitate to shell out £50 or £60 quid a go for fuel...
I had a bad experience with standard Mobil 1 when I first bought the chim. Made the engine rattle and misbehave. That was when I changed to magnatech and never looked back :-). I could change to the motorsport mobil 1 but to be honest Ive used magnatech for 3 years now and am happy with it so see no reason to change.
Why do so many owners still vote for Mobil 1? The reason TVR promoted its use had much more to do with the lucrative business arrangement than any performance benefit, TVR got their supply for free so long as they put an 'Only Use Mobil 1' plate under the bonnet. Many people who currently race Rover V8 derivatives use Castrol Edge 10W 60.
