This is my first year going to the Classic and I wondered if "stickering up" as we do for the 24hr was the norm for this event as well or "just not done"........

No intention, that's why we are going to it as the antics at the 24hr. are becoming more football fan styled. However I don't think decorating cars is the source of all evil is it ?

Anyone co-ordinating us Classic visitors? I'm out Friday by tunnel, back Monday, camping at Karting Nord (wherever that is . . .) in my Z3 2.8, and be great to hook up with other PH'ers. There may well be a thread on this but there are now so many it's difficult to keep track.

I take it you've been before Mark, do they have the full "village" on the circuit as they do for the 24hr ?

We're going down overnight from Portsmouth on the Friday and staying in Karting Nord.

Although we've been to the 24hrs for the past 7 years, we can't this year , so we thought we'd give the classic a go....

We were on the roundabout last year at the 24hr on the Friday when some idiots were jumping on cars and letting off fireworks in the crowd, there were even one or two bottles flying through the air, the sort of behaviour that wasn't eveident before, so, time for a change. I like a laugh and a beer, but not when it becomes that stupid.

Yep, I've been to each of the Classic LM events, 2006, 2004 and 2002 and they have all been great. After 13 years of the June event, I think the July event is way better without all the current Chavvy problems, which have ruined the June event for me..

The group I have organised is going overnight Pompey to Caen arriving in France first thing Friday morning, we then return Monday.

Seem to be a lot of people going this year on the Wednesday and Thursday... Seems a little strange as there is nothing happening on track until the Friday afternoon.. (15.00 onwards I think)

Oh, yes, the full village is there, in fact it is a lot bigger with many more trade stands selling lots of Classic themed merchandise..

I'll be on the 0750 tunnel on Friday in my Z3 2.8 so hope to hook up with some of you others. Also camping at Karting Nord - anyone camped here before and if so, what's it like?

Trackrod, I seem to be following you around the forums (or should that be fora? Or Forza?) so which thread are we to home-in on with list of PHers travel and campsites?

Echo the other comments above, last time for the main event for me was in 2004 never again I am afraid,( 7 years on the trot), did the classic in 06 and we are going again this year, did the Silverstone classic last year as a fill in, again more like Le Mans used to be a few years back.
Indeed at the 06 classic we left our beers in the cooler under the gazebo, left our chairs alongside, and guess what they were still there in the morning, no one nicked them, nothing, went out in the cars all over the place and didnt get squirted with anything. We had a few beers...OH YES, we had a laugh....OH YES, but overall we had a bl**dy good time, and a lot of us took our wives / girlfriends etc and they enjoyed it too.
As I said above its like the june event used to be back in the late 90's, chilled relaxed and totally enjoyable.

I am on my way down late on Friday with one other car, 8pm tunnel crossing, last minute change to work means we can't get away earlier. Hopefully make it to Rouen for an overnight stop and into Le Mans earlyish on Saturday, staying in Karting Nord. Does anyone know if there will be a problem getting into the campsite that close to the race?

Oh and I have ordered stickers for the car, but I am not a chav honest!

Hey Neil, if you're that good with a knife, I would have thought you would cut your own stickers out !!
