Diesel/Petrol

All the fuss about modern diesels fuel consumption is all well and good but it's always down to the way the car is driven anyway. I've just been to cornwall for a break in a 1997 328I touring with roof box full to the brim 3dogs climate on for most of the way and returned 32.7 mpg at 70mph.Coming back got 28.8mpg but right foot got a bit eager but for an eleven year old car didn't think that was too bad. Had a diesel Freelander TD4 ( silly i know ) and that didn't give me know where near the same figures.Not one to rant but i think petrol cars can also be economical just depends on the driver

Depends on your point of view, but I don't consider 32.7 particularly economical, and you can't really compare an estate car with an SUV I got 29 mpg driving to Newquay and back last Easter in an SLK55 AMG.

Motorway runs at 80-85 in the 330d give about 48 and the best trip mpg I have seen so far is 55.
