Car was idling 'lumpy' when started from cold so I thought I'd take a look under the bonnet and found this:

yikes

Its actually melted from laying on top of the manifold but does anyone know what it is?

Is it critical?

My car seemed to even-out the lumpy running when warmed up but could this have been anything to do with the initial lumpiness?

Any input gratefully received!

Hmm, you have got me thinking here Ian.

Mine has started to run a little roughly before it gets on "boost", feels like fuel starvation, but is ok with my right foot firmly planted - and i have seen that little bit that you picture just lolling about...

I wonder if it is redundant due to the "modification".

Unfortunately mine is in at RG at the moment, so i can't have a look, but i will make a point of asking them when i collect the car.

Its an unused connector that pokes out of the loom in that area. I would be inclined to cut off the remains and tape up in case the wires are now shorting.

Thanks Del & Dogbucket. I think I will cut it off (and tape up) as it is buggered now anyway.

David: Please let me know if you find anything out. The car is OK when warm but the start up is a little ropey now.

I believe it is for air conditioning given the loom is a bodged LR one . . . Not applicable in most TVR's . . . Cut off the remains and forget about it . .

Hi Ian,

YHM, but basically it is an aircon plug which is not used, the Lamda sensor wire runs under the exhaust manifold with a similar connector.
