Well,

After buying some 16 inch OZ wheels for the rear of the SEAC - they pinch the control arm when the wheels are in the air - does not do this when the wheel is on the ground.. obviously not healthy if you go over a humped back bridge.. so it sounds like it needs spacers.

What size have you got (if you have 16 inch rears )
- they seem to come in several thicknesses

3MM
5MM
10MM

Thanks.

I can't remember the exact size of the spacers used on my rear wheels (I'd have to have a look), but I think they are at least 5mm and the rear flanges had to have slightly longer bolts fitted to ensure there was definitely enough thread for the wheelnuts. It's probably different with each car.

I've got an extra pair of 3mm spacers and pair of 6mm spacers which I'm happy to post to you if you want to try some for size.

The SHENG version of the control bar moves it inboard by about 10mm so you don't need to use a spacer. If you do use a spacer it is worth replacing the studs with high tensile longer ones. I sheared two a couple of weeks ago . Got down to Goodwood and noticed a couple of studs missing. Just replaced the whole lot to be on the safe side.

Gerald - if you are free on Wednesday 4th June then bring them along to the Wedge meet..

You may all be right that longer studs will be needed - I can check the free lenght with my verniers when I try some spacers.

Not sure Rev can push the Seac that fast smile

Maybe you need stiffer suspension, so that you don't get airbourne ?

I'm starting to think that pushing power is the way to go .. it sure cuts down on wear and tear on the TVR !

The speed problem is just going to get worse .. old TVR's just get faster evil

I'd be tempted to go this route, as with spacers you may find you will rub the wheel arch.

Yes - I may well do eventually but I'm making enough changes for now.. just need to get it all back together and working again.

True.
how often do the rear wheel's leave the gound when driving on the road.
Also a bit of rub once in a blue moon is not going to do any harm.

How may 400SE's out there do the wheels rub on the arches.

My plan was to put in a small spacer.. and hopefully that would fix the issue..

If the mot man jacks the corner to check the bearing - he will fail the car if the tyre touches the suspension.

5mm. (3mm is barely worth it and may still rub under distortion.)

Yes - MOT needed.. not had one for about 20 years..

At least the emissions should be easier to control with Emerald .. it's just the cam that might be tricky .. to make it idle it will need to be rich..
