The Chim dosnt seem to BURST into life any more (since being serviced).

It takes a few secs turning over and then sort of just 'picks up'.

Also seems to have lost that 'raw edge' when accelerating.

Is it possible that the timing has somehow been altered during the service
Is it a matter of rotating the distributor ?

I used to do all sorts of car mechanics years ago (before electronic ignition) but then had company cars, so there is a big gap in my knowledge to catch up on.

Maybe I have just got used to it,

but I dont think so !

Its not how you first detect a cam wearing out is it ?

Check all the plug leads, there is a fair chance one or two have not been seated properly and have popped off slightly !

Same thing happened to me, I jumped into it after a long layoff and thought my Passat estate 130 TDI was quickerbiggrin

Thankfully one of leads had come loose....

Why not give a call to those who serviced it ..

You paid a lot for their service - so they will just want to look over it to find the problem.

Did you use someone local..

Still think you should have bought a wedge though smile

I havent had chance to drive it much but the service was almost a month ago, so I cant expect them to remember if they adjusted the timing, anyway I do fully trust the garage

I would have done but there werent many good affordable ones around, and the price of Chims had dropped significantly since I started looking.
