resetting ecu

guys apparently ecu learns your driving style,so if your stuck in traffic a lot you will eventually lose "power" is that right.Also can you reset the ecu to factory settings .

Hi, you don't loose any power, it just changes the throttle reponse slightly.

To reset I think you turn on the ignition but don't start the car and leave it on for 15 secs and then turn back off, there was a fantastic thread on e46 fanatics about things that you didn't know your car did and that's one of them, will try and fine for you later.

thanks buddy im getting a 6 month old 1 series 2ltr diesel has push button start.

Would be great if you could find that thread, as i've just picked up a 330 convertible and would like to know about the 'easter eggs'

Disconnect the battery, that will do it.

I never believed this untill it happened to me.

After a trackday (74 miles of total flat out driving) the car felt sooooo much more responsive on the way home!
