We have an ltd company which traded briefly for a couple months, for which returns where submitted to companies house via our accountantS. It has not trade now for over 6 months.

How can we close it quickly and with the least expense as the accountants we are using are very expensive.

We don’t have any creditors and the company is showing a lose at the moment money owed to the directors.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Have you prepared trading accounts yet?

Have you submitted accounts to Companies House and HM Revenue and Customs?

Strictly speaking accounts still need to be prepared and submitted covering the period the company has traded and operated. Once these are out of the way and the company is no longer being used, you have two choices.

Either leave the company in existence in a "Dormant" state and continue to submit dormant company accounts to Companies House. These need not be expensive to produce and will keep the company "alive" for future use if necessary.

Or, apply to have the company struck of the register. This is a no cost option and is much cheaper and easier than a formal liquidation or winding up.

Sounds like reverting to dormant status or striking off are your two options.
