Anyone into copper cables?

We're trying to find a company that can (very quickly) manufacture a number of coppper rope style cables. The key is the end of the cable that, on this sample, seems to have been crushed so that all the strands are held together.

I have a hunch that the end has been sonic welded.



Its a long shot, I know - but are any PHers into this sort of thing?
