I’ve just finished packing up the bike for a trip to Germany early tomorrow morning (should be leaving Dover at 08:00 tomorrow) and I’ve just heard that the French fishermen are blockading the ports and stopping the ferries. furious

idea
Does anyone has a spare U-Boat that I could use to remove the French fishing boats with? tank

That would be great if it happens. (Other than fact that we'll just be part of a very long queue!)

Current expectations is that the blockade will continue at least through tomorrow.

Operation stack is in place on the M20 at the moment.Tourist traffic should be able to get straight to the docks and wait there for ferries.I do not beleive you are transeferred to the tunnel though.
Where are you coming from? do you know how to get there using the A20 if its still on.

That's what I thought.

Our group are coming from Suffolk, Oxfordshire, Norfolk, Essex, Bucks and Kent but I think we should be able to get to the docks if the ferries are sailing. (Tomtom 'avoid motorways' option should do it!) I would rather be in bed until a decent hour than get up at 04:00 just to get to Dover and sit on the docks for a day. (I'd rather be riding to Germany though!)

Check if it has an 'avoid Brussels Ring Road' option also - it will be useful smile

I’ve done the Brussels ring road before and I know what you mean! However, it is still better than the Peripherique that we did a couple of years ago.

woohoo Woo hoo, the French fishermen have lifted their blockade. I’m off to Germany 1st thing (and I mean 1st thing – leaving home at 04:30) tomorrow. I’ll let you all know just how wonderful the roads are when I get back!

Hopefully by then operation stack will have cleared. The cars etc at the docks should not take to long clear. If stack is still on then the A20 is just as quick as using the M20 all you do is come off at junction 8 on the M20 and rejoin at junction 9 again of the M20.
Hope you have a good trip.
