Audi TT Speedster Confirmed

Carmaker will build limited number of speedsters especially for Middle East market

Audi has apparently confirmed that a limited run of TT Speedsters will be built for the Middle East market.

The firm is planning on creating 50 to 100 of the chopped TT after testing took place in southern Germany, reports Car Online.

Audi's marketing director for the Middle East, Bernd Rosenbichler, said the small production run was being planned only for hotter climates.

'We have been asked [by Audi AG] if we could imagine bringing this car here,' he said.

'We are planning on making the worldwide premiere of this car here and then launching it just for the region.'

The car will be very similar to the 2007 TT Clubsport Quattro concept, with a wraparound windscreen lip and a strictly two-seater cabin.

It is thought that a launch in the Middle East will help to give the carmaker an image boost in the region.

i like the alloys, but thats it

plus being in the middle east, surely it doesnt make sense with all that dust 'flying' around

seems pointless to me

a supercharged R8 or something would have made more sense

Looks sooooo gay it could not exist here. It would simply explode in a cloud of powder puff and pink feathers.

Despite the naysayers with the always hilarious 'shoe' and 'hairdresser-mobile' comments, I actually really like the look of that, even though I don't like standard TT's and as a rule dislike all cars brazen enough not to wear clothing i.e. a roof.

Fair play to them, and also to those people fortunate enough not to suffer from perpetual rain... although you can dry a wet interior, but I imagine removing sand could be more difficult, and a lot more uncomfortable...

Could this be the start of car companies providing two versions of vehicles, a sanitised and controlled EU/US version and a no-holds barred version for the rest of the world? Imagine the possibilities...

What i think is brilliant is they are going to sell 50-100 and within two years they will all be pretty much scrap after being wrapped round various objects.
