AA Vehicle Inspections
Discussion
Total waste of space as far as I am concerned - bought a 330 bmw a few yrs ago and it had a clean bill of health.... along with two bald to the cord front tires!!! Mind you is down to the local rep so might be better elsewhere. Just look very carefully yourself and take a finiky mate along with you in case you get all stary eyed at the car...
Just had one (full monty one) on a Mercedes Viano.
Booked it on-line, they turned up when they said they would.
Found nothing major, couple of teeny things which the dealer then put right and the inspector pointed out some minor repair that neither I or the dealer had spotted.
No big deal but good to know he'd found it.
Worth it in my opinion.

I'm with S600VXR on this one. A good few years ago I bought a Ford Fiesta that came with a full inspection from the 'other crew'. Turned out to be an ex Group4 van that had been converted to a car, clocked heavily and rebuilt badly after being written off! The lawyer's advised that I did'nt earn enough to take on a company with royal patronage and to walk away. Times have changed since then, consumer rights are much better etc but it still makes me see red whenever I hear the name. My advice is dont trust em, whoever they are!
I always have an RAC inspection on any used car I am interested in buying, has saved me problems twice, one of them WAS a cut and shut Money well spent IMHO, would not use the AA though. http://www.rac.co.uk/web/vehiclechecks/examination...

It was the RAC who gave my old BMW a clean bill of health with two bald to the cord front tires! Shows how standards vary dont it! They also missed a few other minor bits but I didnt pay for the inspection so didnt take it any further (got new tyres mind as part of the deal)I sold a car back in 2002 that was inspected by a company at the purchaser's request. No big deal I thought - 9 month old car, 15k on the clock, serviced properly and only my 2nd brand new car, so I'd lavished car and attention on it.
The report was full of caveats and "snide" comments like "brake pads 25% worn" and it seemed to be a bit of a waste of £200 for the purchaser.
Still he bought the car.. so...
