Hi People

I sat in the new K40 at the BMF.

I was blown away by it, and I'm now toying with the idea of chopping the Westfield in for one. I'm going over to the factory on Friday for a poke around, ask some questions and go for a blast.

I didn't realise until I just did some research that the K40 was brand new, so the budget might not quite stretch that far. During my research though, I have notice a serious lack of cars available second hand, just in case the budget is radically short of target...

I have some questions you might hopefully be able to answer for me:
1) What fitment are the front wheels? The pictures on the factory site don't have wheels to my taste.
2) Instruments. Has anybody fitted anything other than the BMW clocks? I have an ETB Digidash 2 in the Westfield and would like to fit one to the S3.
3) What is the spares availability like? Are they fully of bespoke bits that are factory only.
4) How many have been produced, roughly, to date.

Apologies for all the questions.

TIA

Martin

Oh, and can anyone help with the following options. As far as I can tell they aren't really options if you are going to build a 1200.

Micron high performance exhaust system: £495
Radiator upgrade (inc. fan), recommended for K1200: £329
Sump extension to increase oil capacity: £159
Wiring loom for K1200 installation: £229

Thanks again.

It's a niche choice for sure, not cheap either. Isn't there an owner's club or something who will help?

I had no idea you could build one. Is this a new idea, or am I just ill-informed!?

The grinall is a really good bit of kit and you will be quite impressed with the set up that mark grinnall has.

I'm sure maggit has filled you in. Building a scorp is the less usual choice, but it's not hard and the guys at the "factory" are always on the phone to help out.
Driving one demands respect and concentration (particularly in the wet), it'll be beaten point to point by lots of things (no denying physics), but it makes you feel good.

So far my research says it has always been an option. Although a rare one, most appear to have been factory built.
