Hi folks,

I'm fairly new to Caterham ownership and am looking for a bit of advice…

My car is a completely standard (if there is such a thing), 1994 1.4K series Supersport. By standard I mean that by and large the car is how it left the factory (with the exception of Supersport upgrade and a change of seats & steering wheel).

My question centres around the brakes. From which manufacturer & car are the brake discs & callipers sourced by Caterham? I have discs all round and single piston callipers on each corner. I was thinking Rover or possible Ford (Sierra)?

Essentially I want to know is, it possible to source replacement discs & pads from a supplier other than Caterham Cars and if so, what car should I be quoting (although of course the bits will be going on my 7)?

All advice gratefully received!

Thanks,

Welcome to Caterham ownership. Discs are triumph herald, rear callipers are ford sierra. Not sure on the standard front ones though as I have the Caterham big brake kit - possibly Caterham OEM? Why are you looking to buy the parts from elsewhere? If its cost, you might be surprised to find out that Caterham sell the parts pretty cheaply. Don't forget you will need a wind-back tool for the rear pads to be fitted

I think the standard front callipers are from a Herald, and various other cars, but are of a twin piston design. Maybe yours have been changed.
Rally Design do list Mintex 1144's under Caterham 7.
