I've got a Chim PAS rack to see if it would fit on my V8S - and the answer is it won't easily.
The internal rack length is a bit shorter so it will upset the geometry.
I may be able to get it engineered to fit - but if these really are the proverbial rocking horse poo what's it worth?
I guess ebay is the best judge of an items market value but thought you guys might have an idea.

I was told by the seller that it was reconditioned 3 years ago - there is a sticker on the rack to possibly verify this.

Here's a picture of it - its the bottom one the top one is a V8S manual rack.

The long copper pipe has some slight damage and will need replacing.

Same here plus £5 (sorry TD) hehe

I would have to have it reconditioned anyway, not worth fitting a used rack, certainly not one of these.

They don't last very long when they are new, let alone used.

How much do you think it is worth then?

The question was driven by the fact that it is not a straightforward install on the V8S.
The steering column to rack isn't a big deal, nor is mounting it, though from what I understand the rack mountings have to be altered to allow for the bulkier profile of the rack.

The problem comes with the fact that the internal rack is slightly shorter than on the V8S - so the geometry is all buggered up if fitted as it stands.

The options I'm considering are get the rack engineered to fit by having some 'spacers' made (professionally not a bodge) or bin the hydraulic rack idea (and sell it) and go for a Corsa electric power steering option if it can be made to fit and the mountings are up to the torque involved.

Last time I saw a TVR PAS rack on ebay it went for £550.

I thought the £550 was probably one of the usual ebay bids that vapourise once you ask for payment, though if someone wants to pay that I'd be happy!

I am sure you would be, but what are the chances of them remembering they have bid that much on a used rack that needs repairing/refurbing when their medication wears off hehe
