Rear light plug

Does anyone know where to source the crimp connectors that go inside the rear light cluster plug. On one side of mine the connectors seem to have got a bit old and loose and is giving me a dodgy earth on my brake light/indicator combo. I have taken it all apart and tried to close up the crimp, but it is still crap.

Not sure you can get them individually - the whole unit is from Ford Escort MkIV I believe. Maybe a scrappy near you might have one left but guess they don't get much call for them nowadays. If mine start giving me grief, I intend soldering wires to the bulb holder 'tracks' and then feeding them into some sort of generic connector purchased from one of the kit car component suppliers or Radio Spares (RS) or Maplin.

I would recommend fitting more flexible wire to the new plug - about 4 inches is fine - then soldering and heat shrinking these to the existing loom. The cable TVR used has a very heavy outer and isn't that flexible and this can cause the plug not to sit very well on the light board.

Just to let anyone interested know that I have sourced the plug and crimps from Ebay and extended the existing loom. All is now ALMOST perfect. Still need to get a new bulb holder as this one has goosed retainers, but it all works, so thankyou to all who suggested fixes.

I tried to buy a pair of these as mine dont look too good for the future, they have been removed but I found these

and they have another 3 if anyone is interested, a bit cheaper too, not that it matters at these prices really.

I have had a similar problem with my S2 rear lights (dodgy/rusty bulb holders), I tried to clean them inside but I broke a couple of the earth contacts off. So I bought a pair of New Bulb holders from ebay, made by MAFCO not Ford, for £18. This has sorted out the problem, now all my rear lights work perfectly.

There are still some for sale on ebay at the moment complete with connectors, and have a buy it now option. If you do a search for "Ford Escort Rear Bulb Holder" you should find them OK.
