Just a ploy to get you into the show room and push for sales.


You know how to reduce your consumption, tyre pressure, wheel alignment, dont carry unnecessary weight aound, turn off your engine when in a traffic que, only half fill your fuel tank thats min 30kg weight saving. Change your oil every 10k, change or use a hoover to clean your air filter the more clogged & dirty it is the less air that can get in so more throttle to progress.

Turn air con/climate control off when not really needed. Remove any roof rails unless your using them ditto roof box.

There you go thats what they will tell you so now you can not waste your weekend being tempted into buying a £25k+ car.

Wonder why go to the trouble of putting on a special "event" - I've been into my local BMW dealer several times but never actually managed to speak to a salesman.

Tempted to take my trackday E30 along for their efficency check. 17mpg should give them some room for improvement.

I've got an 03 330ci convert so doubt they can do much re: consumption but any how thought i'd go along, get my car washed and hoovered but more importantly get to test drive the latest 'fuel efficient' 330 which no doubt will lead me to want one in the future. The sucker that i am, I will fall for this marketing trick and purchase one, not until next yr tho' but BMW don't need to know that!!! By the way the online booking service is pretty good, give's u an on-line diary of appointments and u get to choose which car u'd like to take a spin in. Only an hour so why not??!!

It's BMW's way of making a car more efficient though ingenuity rather than batteries & wotnot. I'm doing all the test drives for this next weekend so will see what people make of it if they understand/appreciate.

Of course theres room for improvement - you could trade it in for a 320d and get 50mpg.

(which is really what they want people to do!)
