I like it better than PS CS2 HDR, more tunable and can get nicer 'realistic' results.

Andrew, John,

Brilliant - really impressive results. To me a lot of HDR photos look somehow fake or surreal or whatever the words are I'm looking for. John, your first pic (the best for me) looks like it's been through a few PS filters and effects. I have photomatix but never used it eek . Photos like these may well inspire me to get my tripod out and have a go. Could I ever get results like that tho?

Now how do I set up the camera to do it? Where's the darn manu...

Great work,
Scott

Scott you have the same camera as me don't you??? 350D????
Menu - Camera Options 2 (second option across) - Down 1 to AEB - Set to number, i use 2 for all mine. Back to taking a photoline your shot up you should have 3 lines on the exposure meter. Line the middle one to the proper exposure then the other 2 should be +2 and -2 - take photo - Merge in CS3 or photomatrix. Its that easy.

Alternativly, meeter for the mid shot in full manual and adjust the shutter speed by 1 stop for 3-4 either way.

Technicaly HDR works better if you have 7-8+ shots + all 2/3rds or so stops apart.

Nice examples of hdr there guys, subtle (which makes a change from most hdr, inluding mine biggrin)

I had a little tinker with one of my shots from the Jim Clark rally today. It looks like something from a game, but I quite like it.

It's not 750px wide, sorry.

Quite like that, is that from 1 image?? The effect is interesting, might have to try it on a few of my car shots

yeah, made 5 shots in lightroom with different exposures -3 to +1, opened in photomatix and tinkered.

Edited to add the original.
